The Garden State Skating Club's Annual Awards Banquet is held in the Spring. This banquet honors our skaters achievments as well as our club's volunteers. Skaters are presented with a US Figure Skating Pin or Medal for each test passed the previous calendar year. Below are descriptions of the perpetual awards and their criteria.
This award honors a person or group who has promoted the sport and art of figure skating. The Board requests nominations from the membership. In accordance with the specifications outlined by the originator of this award, the Board will select the recipient after considering all of the suggestions. If a member feels strongly that a particular individual deserves this award, they are invited to include a letter stating reasons. This award is not restricted to GSSC members. An individual may receive this award only one time.
Catherine D. Morocco Award
This award recognizes outstanding sportsmanship by a skater for exemplary conduct before, during, and after skating sessions, at competitions at home or at other clubs. Each eligible member may vote for the skater that they feel most deserves this award. The recipient of this award must be a home member of the GSSC and be 18 years or younger on December 31 of the previous year. The skater receiving the most votes by the membership will receive this award. An individual may receive this award only one time.

Kuykendall Award
This award is presented to a Home club member who accumulates the highest point total based on tests passed and competition placements during previous calendar year (January 1st through December 31, 20xx). The Awards Committee compiles the points and determines the winner. Applicants must be home club members of the GSSC. The skater must submit his/her competition results for the calendar year in order to be considered. Points are earned for all competitions the skater participated in, regardless of placement. A form for submitting this point information is mailed approximately 45 days before the awards. The Board accumulates competition results presented by the member, test result are obtained and accumulated by the Awards Committee.
