Even for the most seasoned skaters navigating the U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) policies and procedures can be overwhelming. The Garden State Skating Club (GSSC) has put together a list of some frequently asked questions to not only assist families that are new to the sport but also those skaters who have been GSSC Members for years.

How can I join Garden State Skating Club?

Garden State Skating Club’s membership year is July 1st through June 30th.  Although you can sign up any time please note that membership fees will not be prorated.  All new memberships and membership renewals must be submitted through EntryEeze and are subject to club approval. Please contact us with any questions.

Is private coaching required?

Although not required, private coaching is highly recommended. Private coaching will help skaters excel at a faster pace then they typically would in group lessons, provide advice when making difficult decisions, and help when the skater is ready to compete more seriously.

When is the right time to join a figure skating club?

There is a very good chance that if you are considering private coaching your child has already or is currently in the Learn to Skate program. Many times the coaches that teach Learn to Skate also offer private lessons, however you can always speak to the skating director about finding the coach that is right for your child.
